NBA AFRICA GAMES 2018: PROVISIONAL ROSTER RELEASED
Just yesterday the NBA announced through its vice president and managing director for Africa, Mr. Amadou Gallo Fall that the 3rd NBA Africa Game will hold on Saturday, 4 August at the Sun Arena, Times Square, Pretoria, South Africa.
Among the players selected to play at the global game is Nigerian International and Portland Trailblazer’s guard, Al-Farouq Aminu and NBA All-Star player, Cameroonian International and Philadelphia 76ers Forward, Joel Embiid a product of basketball without borders camp of 2011. The other provisional players are Bismack Biyombo (Orlando Magic; DRC), Cheick Diallo (New Orleans Pelicans; Mali), Evan Fournier (Magic; France/Algeria), Serge Ibaka (Toronto Raptors; Congo), Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (Philadelphia 76ers; France/DRC), and Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors; Cameroon).
Team World will include DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors; US), Harrison Barnes (Dallas Mavericks; US), Danilo Gallinari (LA Clippers; Italy), Rudy Gay (San Antonio Spurs; US), Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks; US), and Hassan Whiteside (Miami Heat; US).
The game will be played in a Team World vs Team Africa format as it has been. Team Africa will feature players of African descent or those who are directly tied to Africa while Team World will be made up of players from the rest of the World.
The NBA Africa games debuted in Africa in 2015 and continued last year. This year’s edition will take place following the 16th edition of basketball without borders camp which commemorates the centenary of Nelson Mandela in support of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
